Preparing Your Hair for Summer: Tips for Radiant Hair in the Sun

With summer approaching, it's time to prepare our hair for the challenges this season brings. The sun, the beach, the pool, and the heat can all affect the health and appearance of our hair if we don't take the proper precautions. But don't worry, I'm here to share some key tips on how to prepare your hair for summer and keep it radiant and healthy all season long.

  1. Prioritize hydration: The sun and heat can leave your hair dry and dehydrated. Before summer arrives, it's important to boost your hair's hydration with targeted treatments. Opt for hydrating masks rich in ingredients like coconut oil, avocado, or shea butter, which will help restore moisture and softness to your hair. Incorporate these treatments into your weekly hair routine to keep your hair hydrated and healthy. Here's our best-selling shea hair mask and conditioner:

  2. Protect your hair from the sun: Just as you protect your skin with sunscreen, you should also protect your hair. Look for hair products with UV protection to prevent the sun's rays from damaging the cuticle and causing discoloration and dryness. Apply a spray or cream with sunscreen before sun exposure and reapply as needed, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors. Also, consider wearing hats or scarves to protect your hair from the sun when you're at the beach or pool. Like the previous one, our mask is photoprotective as it contains shea butter and vitamin E.

  3. Reduce the use of heat tools: During the summer, it's best to minimize the use of heat tools like blow-drying, flat irons, or curling irons, as the additional heat can damage your hair. Let your hair air dry whenever possible and opt for natural, heat-free styles. If you must use heat tools, apply a heat protectant beforehand to minimize damage and use the lowest setting possible.

  4. Condition after swimming: Chlorine in pools and salt in seawater can be especially harsh on your hair. After swimming, rinse your hair with fresh water to remove residue and then apply a moisturizing conditioner to restore softness and elasticity. Also, consider using a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove any product buildup and keep your hair clean and healthy. And if you also complement it with a nourishing shampoo, even better :)

  5. Keep your cut fresh: Summer is the perfect time to refresh your look with a haircut. Eliminating split and damaged ends will help keep your hair healthy and looking more vibrant. Plus, a fresh cut can help prevent matting and tangling, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors.

With these tips, you're ready to enjoy summer with radiant, healthy-looking hair! Remember that hydration, protection, and regular care are key to keeping your hair at its best all season long.
